With the release of Song to Song, it’s time to come up with a name for this creatively fertile, aggressively poetic period in the beloved auteur Terrence Malick’s career. Much like The Tree of Life, To the Wonder, and Knight of Cups, his new film is light on plot and heavy on portentous voice-over.

The characters are thinly defined at best, but they’re also all the camera cares about, emphatically twirling around them as they dance, canoodle, and wrestle with all of life’s quandaries.

Perhaps you could call it Malick’s “contemporary architecture” period, since these films see their heroes trapped in postmodern buildings of glass, steel, and sumptuous infinity pools. Or maybe it could be titled his “freestyle dance” period, since all of his characters express their thoughts and feelings through movement, rather than dialogue.

Whatever the name, Song to Song fits firmly into Malick’s non-narrative approach: A tale of musicians falling in and out of love against the backdrop of Austin’s music scene, it’s as confounding and oblique as his other recent efforts.

Though there’s certainly a hypnotic quality to Song to Song, this is a film that traffics in very broad story ideas and lets the viewer fill in the details. Like To the Wonder (about a marriage torn apart by infidelity and temptation) and Knight of Cups (about a depressed screenwriter fumbling his way through life in Los Angeles), Song to Song seems vaguely autobiographical. Malick grew up in Austin, Texas, and has faced the kind of artistic hurdles the movie’s characters seem to run into. But as with To the Wonder and Knight of Cups, there’s just not quite enough to grab onto here. And like those films, Song to Song seems destined to be remembered only by Malick’s most die-hard fans, who can pore over its semiotic details for years to come.

The movie follows Faye (Rooney Mara), an aspiring young musician in Austin who’s under the wing of bigshot producer Cook (Michael Fassbender), then falls for an up-and-coming performer named BV (Ryan Gosling). Though BV and Faye’s romance is distinctly Malickian—soaringly sentimental, with lots of tummy-kissing and clothed tussling in bed—it is quickly disrupted by Cook, who has a sexual history with Faye and a tangled professional relationship with BV. Later, Cook splits off from them and falls for a waitress named Rhonda (Natalie Portman), and Cate Blanchett also briefly appears as a rebound fling for BV.

Mike Will Made-It is dropping more and more hot music as his album Ransom 2 is set to drop this Friday, March 24.

This past weekend SXSW, the well respected producer previewed a new song featuring legendary producer/artist Pharrell called “Aries (Yugo).” The record combines a great mix of a dope flow provided by Skateboard P, an eclectic instrumental and a catchy hook that’s bound to make anyone bop their head.

Pharrell opens up the record speaking about believing in miracles, securing your bag and making sure everyone knows you’re the person with the bag. The song then goes into the hook where Pharrel recites the word “Yugo” which ends up being extremely catchy. Mike Will hit his Twitter this morning and stated his feeling about his new record.

“This song with @Pharrell on #Ransom2 gives me the feeling I had when I first heard Black Beatles,” he tweeted.

Mike Will recently released “On The Come Up” featuring Big Sean. The song, which is the intro on Ransom 2, captures the Detroit rapper spitting about him and his friend’s making a come up in this industry. Before the release of “On The Come Up,” Mike Will dropped “Gucci On My,” which features YG, 21 Savage and Migos. That record finds the artists rapping about being dripped out in the well-known fashion brand.

Future made history by becoming the first artist to ever debut at No. 1 on the Top 200 chart in consecutive weeks. With that kind of success, it is no surprise that the Atlanta rapper views his FUTURE and HNDRXX albums fondly. In an interview with Hypebeast, Future managed to narrow down his favorite tracks from each project, selecting six songs in total.

“From the Future project, [my favorites are] probably ‘Mask Off’ then ‘Feds Did A Sweep,'” Future said. “On the HNDRXX project, it’s ‘Coming Out Strong,’ ‘Selfish,’ ‘New Illuminati’ and ‘Solo.’ I love ‘Solo.'”

Future gave the brief interview on his way home from Reebok’s ZOKU Runner sneaker in London. While he was overseas, the “March Madness” artist also participated in Q&A with DJ Semtex. During the talk, Future spoke about his reason for teaming up with Reebok.

“It’s a classic brand. It’s been around forever and I wanted to be with a classic brand,” Future said. “I just felt like it was a good time to join Reebok with everything I had going on.”

Future also did his best job as a pitchman for the new shoe. The Atlanta rhymer praised the ZOKU Runner in front of the U.K. audience.

“It’s a comfortable shoe you can wear around all the time,” he said. “I think the ZOKU Runners are great for going outside, when you going out to work out and when you’re going to the studio.”

Dubbing Future the future of music would be a tad too easy.

Yet Billboard today refreshed its weekly US Top 200 chart, and the American rapper officially became the first artist to ever knock his own album out of the #1 spot with another one of his albums. Future released the self-titled FUTURE on Feb. 17. One week later, the artist then dropped a second album HNDRXX (pronounced “Hendrix”) which is the new champion.

Future is the only musician in the chart’s half-century history of existence to ever debut two back-to-back #1 albums. Amazing as that is, bear in mind that part of Future’s record-breaking feat comes the hodgepodge way in which music’s top charts are now assembled.

Up till December 2014, Billboard’s Top 200 chart—which pulls its numbers from data juggernaut Nielsen—measured new music in the US only by album sales. As music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, came into the mainstream, Nielsen and Billboard revamped their system to be based off “units.”

How does is work? One “unit” is equivalent to either one album sale, 10 track sales, or 1,500 song streams. In other words, listeners on a streaming platform would need to stream a Future song 1,500 times for it to count the same way a single album purchase does.

While that number may seem high, consider that it costs (more or less) $9.99 a month to stream tens of thousands of songs, as opposed to dropping $10-15 on a single album to own it, either physically or digitally. That means people who subscribe to online streaming services aren’t taking out an additional cost to listen to every new Future song or album or the same ones over and over again—it’s essentially free.

It becomes an odd, if necessary, way of calculating charts, because it means people who pay the most for an artist’s music count for the least when sales are tallied.

The new system favors constantly evolving artists like Future. The Atlanta rapper—who came onto the music scene in 2010 and has produced six studio albums, 12 mixtapes, 61 singles, and 33 music videos since then—could indeed be ushering in a new era of music: a maddened, frantic new time for the industry in which being prolific pays off more than anything else. It’d seem the rapper’s penchant for excess, coupled with the quality of his two albums themselves, led to this shining moment; as Pitchfork observed last month: “Nonstop motion and overindulgence are in his DNA.”

Remember that scowl Michael Phelps made at the Rio Olympics? It came from listening to the Atlanta rapper Future. In fact, some percentage of the scowls happening at any given time on Earth in the past few years likely have been thanks to Future, contemporary hip-hop’s most reliable resource for mood alteration.

The 33-year-old Future is now gunning for a Billboard milestone: being the first artist to have two separate albums chart at No. 1 in back to back weeks. Which would seem like an odd distinction—who releases two albums a week apart?—were it not for Future’s legendary profligacy (he released eight albums and mixtapes in 2015 and 2016 alone).

The key to his popularity is less in his volume than in his sound, though. Thank him partly for how slithery manipulated vocals, emotionally haunted bragging, and sputtering rhythms that evoke an interstellar machine shop have become to today’s music what gated reverb was to the ’80s. But also credit him for maintaining a recognizable style and outlook even as he has continued to shift shapes since his 2012 debut album.

After a year of relative quiet, Future is back with a surprise duo of releases, one self-titled and one called Hndrxx, a reference to a Jimi Hendrix-inspired alter-ego the rapper created for himself. The first was announced without mention of a follow-up, and when it arrived two weeks ago it sounded like a radical re-purification: no guest stars, no stylistic diversions, just Future in pure beast mode, cruel and confident over driving, jagged beats. It premiered as the No. 1 album in the country.

Days later came the news of Hndrxx, which turns out to be an aesthetic inverse: musically adventurous, introspective, too smooth and downbeat to help anyone set a 200m butterfly record.

The density of Future overwhelms at first, with his producers layering metallic clangs and hisses, wobbly synth motifs that read as aquatic or electrical, and—for refreshing bits of color—flutes. Future’s voice, as always, is doctored not to sound more polished but more human: He wavers between notes, saying one thing but communicating another, snapping from cloudy-headed one moment to clear the next, and repeatedly sneaking in little innovations. Listen to how he seems to be playing near the melody of “The Streets of Cairo” in “Super Trapper.” Check out how the deceptively simple “I’m So Groovy” continually returns to a quick, hooky “mhmmm” that seems to unmoor itself from the verse and become part of the beat.

Unsurprisingly, British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran has claimed the throne on this week's ARIA charts again with new album ? (Divide), despite controversy around new Disney film Beauty & The Beast tipping its soundtrack to debut in the top five.

Sheeran has picked up #1, #3 (with X) and #8 (with +) on the Album chart this week, with Beauty & The Beast's soundtrack picking up the week's highest debut at #6. The rest of the top ten are filled out with Adele, fresh off her Aussie tour with all three of her albums at #2, #4 and #9, just-finished-but-still-in-Australia pop star Justin Bieber (#10), the Trolls soundtrack (#5) and The Waifs' Ironbark at #7.

Other debuts on the Albums chart this week include The Shins' Heartworms at #16, Laura Marling (who was just announced on Vivid Festival this year) at #19 with Semper Femina, Colin Hay's Fierce Mercy at #44, Nashville Cast's The Music Of Nashville Original Soundtrack Season 5, Volume 1 at #64, Charli XCX's Number 1 Angel at #74, C3 Music's Breathe at #86 and Got7's Flight Log: Arrival at #92.

В Петербурге в результате следственных действий и оперативно-розыскных мероприятий задержаны подозреваемые в совершении преступления, предусмотренного ч. 4 ст. 159 УК РФ (мошенничество). Злоумышленники специализировались на обмане пенсионеров, сообщается на официальном сайте СК РФ.

По версии следствия, в декабре 2016 года обвиняемые, используя электронную телефонную базу жителей Санкт-Петербурга, выбирали пожилых граждан, звонили им, представляясь сотрудниками социальных служб и под предлогом обмена денежных купюр старого образца на денежные купюры нового образца, совершили в отношении двух пожилых женщин мошенничество на общую сумму более 500 тысяч рублей.

42-летней Нине Шаваддиновой, 55-летней Чамба Череповской, 33-летней Натальи Тарасевич и 27-летнему Артему Барбасову избрана мера пресечения в виде заключения под стражу.

Следственный комитет обращает внимание граждан, в особенности лиц пожилого возраста, о необходимости быть бдительными и осторожными общаясь с незнакомыми людьми.

Роспотребнадзор подготовил законопроект, направленный на изменение санитарных норм условий труда отдельных категорий работников.

Согласно законопроекту, женщины, которые вышли на работу в период кормления ребенка возрастом до 1,5 лет, должны иметь в пределах предприятия специальное помещение, где они будут иметь возможность кормить, переодевать своего ребенка. Отдельное помещение должно быть оснащено пеленальными столиками, кушеткой, санузлом, должно быть наличие горячей, холодной воды.

В отношении беременных женщин проект устанавливает ограниченный период времени работы за компьютером. Женщины могут трудиться за компьютерной техникой, но не больше 3 часов. Также женщины, работа которых связана с компьютерной техникой, могут быть временно переведены на другие работы. Если работа женщины связана с биологическими агентами, к которым относятся токсоплазмоз и вирус краснухи, то такой труд следует полностью исключить.

Если законопроект будет одобрен, то соответствующие нормы начнут действовать уже в текущем году.
